Thank you to all of you that attended the Seed Swap. Thank you to Anna Cash for organizing the connection for OPA to the Gardeners of Ogden!

I have been the Principal of OPA for four years now and learned more about kids who work hard, than in all of my twenty-one year career. Several of our students at the secondary level have been studying Spanish for up to 10 years. At the culmination of their time here at OPA, we encourage a trip to Spanish-speaking countries. As you know we pick trip locations well in advance and try to provide up to a year’s worth of fund raising opportunities for all students that commit to these trips. We are excited about the growth of these programs. The number of students participating has steadily increased and has given over 200+ students the opportunity to travel internationally and use their Spanish language skills.

I share these fantastic facts with you to ask for special support. Students fund raise and get summer jobs, but any outside support that a family or business can provide increases the opportunities for all students. Please consider sponsoring a student to go to Spain. As a school we can provide documentation for charitable donations for tax deduction, and you will be providing the experience of a lifetime. I can always be reached at or 801-627-3066 if you are able to support one of our students in this opportunity.

1. Science Fairs: 6th grade fair is Monday, February 27, and 7-9th grade is Tuesday, February 28th. Please ask your students about the surrounding festivities to encourage them to improve their responsible communication. :-)

Thank you! Thank you for connecting with Teachers to provide a partnership for your students. Celebrating progress, sharing concerns and pushing students to academic goals builds our TEAM! Teachers work very hard to know your kids and determine their educational needs. Our first Lottery Draw will be February 21st. This is a random selection from the lottery, if your student is picked you will receive a email that asks for confirmation that your student will be attending OPA in the 2017-18 school year. Parents have 10 days to confirm the seat at OPA. If not confirmed in 10 days the seat goes back into the lottery for another draw. Remember that priority in the lottery selection is given to siblings of current OPA students, as well as staff member or board member students. Priority does not mean automatic enrollment, it means they will be pulled first, however, if seats are not available they are not created. After OPA is enrolled to capacity, students remaining in the lottery will be placed on a waiting list until the following school year. Apply soon to increase your chances of enrollment!
