YMCA SCHOLARSHIPS:
We are trying to teach our students that TOGETHER WE ARE BETTER! If
we synergize we can make a difference in the lives of our friends.  During the month of October we will have a JAR in our office labeled YMCA.  We are trying to earn enough money to give a YMCA SCHOLARSHIP to 5 of our very own OPA students.  If you have any spare dollars or change please send it to school this month and let your student add the money to our JAR (see the picture of Jar on the side). The money in the jar will be combined with the money we get from our Jersey TEAM SPIRIT day October 26th. If you can, please participate in this WIN/WIN.  At OPA everybody loves, everybody learns and everybody leads.

Parking Lot UPDATES:

It is looking much better overall! It takes time to get in the flow, and what makes the parking lot safe for everyone. Please remember to use the crosswalks (they are now painted and visible), please DO NOT LEAVE your car (we are here to help get students to you), Please have patience.

OPAPO Carnival: The annual OPAPO Carnival was a huge success, thank you for all of the parent, staff and student support.  The OPAPO Carnival is a large fund raiser for classroom supplies funded by OPAPO.

Oregon Trip: What a great trip to the ocean for OPA 8th and 9th graders. Students viewed tide pools, whales, running salmon, full grown Sturgeon, Rainbow trout, attack raccoons, touched sea anemones, sea stars, crabs, and prawns, dissected squid, built remotely operated vehicles, slept in the Coastal Aquarium under sharks, manta rays, rock fish, halibut and a multitude of other species. Students were able to tour the sea lion caves, and a lighthouse build in 1890. Mrs. Hislop outdid herself and provided a quarter of activities in a week. It was a fantastic experience! Thank you to all of the staff and parent chaperones that made this happen for our students at OPA.

Parent Teacher Conferences: The Elementary parent-teacher conferences are October 13th from 1-5 and 6-8; and the 14th from 8-12. The 13th is an early release day and uniform free dress day. The 14th is no school for students.
